My manuscript is being formatted while people are reading about issues I’ve shared in my latest book, Bliss and Blisters in Love and Marriage. I am painfully aware that the story is a familiar one. Yet, there’s still a need to remind people to open up and speak out about the pain too often present in our homes and in our hearts.
Synopsis
Young Vincent Henderson, fearful that he might be killed in the Vietnam War and die childless, persuades his girlfriend, college student Davida Kincaid, to marry him. Instead of receiving a marriage deferment, Vincent is deployed to Vietnam after the couple enjoys ten days of marital bliss.
Davida’s married life becomes a living Hell when faced with a barrage of blistery attacks by anxious in-laws and ultimately the war survivor. She has no idea that Vincent’s destructive behavior upon his return from The Nam is due to an undiagnosed case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Should the spouse of a war veteran stand and fight, or take flight, when a changed person returns home? Davida must answer this question. Advice from seasoned wives and faith in God sustain her until she reaches a pivotal moment of decision.
Bliss and Blisters in Love & Marriage provides encouragement to let go of shameful issues and experiences, and offers insightful discussion material for young adults, couples, newlyweds and military families.
